U.S. Says Military Objectives Are Close to Completion
According to Trump, the United States has made what he described as “major strides” toward completing its military goals.
He suggested that some observers might even consider the mission nearly complete, claiming that U.S. forces have dealt heavy blows to Iran’s military capabilities.
However, the president also noted that some key strategic targets had been left untouched so far, mentioning electricity production facilities and other important infrastructure that could potentially be targeted later if necessary.
The administration has repeatedly said its primary goal is to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

Trump argued that if U.S. strikes had not been carried out earlier, Iran could have been close to producing a nuclear weapon within weeks.
However, intelligence assessments previously reported by CBS News suggested that although Iran had accumulated highly enriched uranium, it would still take additional time and technical steps to convert the material into a usable nuclear device.
“Beginning of Building a New Country”
In a separate interview earlier in the day, Trump described the military operation in a different way, calling it “the beginning of building a new country.”
The comment drew attention because U.S. officials have often said they are not interested in long-term nation-building operations similar to those seen in the Middle East after the September 11 attacks.
Despite that stance, the president has previously suggested he would like to see new leadership emerge in Iran.
Meanwhile, Mojtaba Khamenei was recently named as the country’s new Supreme Leader after the previous leader was reportedly killed during the early stages of the conflict.

During the news conference, the president was also asked about an attack on an elementary school in Iran that reportedly killed 168 people, including many children.

When asked why he had earlier suggested Iran was responsible, Trump said the incident was still under investigation and that he did not yet have enough information about what happened.
Warning Over Oil Supply and Strait of Hormuz
Trump also issued a strong warning regarding global oil supplies, particularly if Iran attempts to disrupt tanker traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.
The strait is one of the most important oil transit routes in the world, and any disruption could significantly affect global energy markets.
The president warned that if Iran interferes with international oil shipments, the United States could respond with much stronger military action.
“I will not allow a terrorist regime to hold the world hostage and attempt to stop the globe’s oil supply,” he said.
Trump also stated that the U.S. is prepared to provide security support for oil tankers traveling through the Persian Gulf, including escorting vessels if necessary.
