Authorities in Norway have released surveillance images of a suspect believed to be connected to a recent explosion outside the United States Embassy Oslo, an incident that has raised security concerns in the capital city.

Zilla Naija gathered that the explosion occurred early Sunday morning in Oslo, prompting an immediate response from police and emergency services.

Investigators say the blast caused minor structural damage to the building’s entrance area but fortunately no injuries were reported.

Surveillance Images Released

In an effort to identify the individual responsible, Norwegian police released two surveillance images captured near the embassy around the time of the incident.

The pictures reportedly show a person dressed in dark clothing with their face concealed. The individual was also seen carrying a backpack. Authorities said the images were heavily pixelated because they were taken from security footage.

Police believe the explosion was caused by an improvised explosive device that had been placed near the entrance of the embassy building.

Although officials initially indicated that the incident could possibly be linked to terrorism, investigators say they are still working to determine the exact motive behind the attack.

Investigators Examine New Leads

As part of the investigation, authorities are reviewing multiple sources of evidence that may help identify the suspect.

According to police statements, investigators are examining a video that was reportedly published on Google Maps around the time of the explosion. The video has since been removed from the platform.

Local media reports suggest the clip referenced Ali Khamenei, though officials have not confirmed any direct connection between the video and the attack.

High-Priority Investigation

Norwegian authorities say the case is being treated as a high-priority investigation, with extensive security resources deployed to gather evidence.

Search teams reportedly used police dogs, drones, and helicopters to scan the area around the embassy for additional clues.

Emergency responders were first dispatched to the scene at approximately 1:00 a.m. local time, after reports of the explosion near the embassy’s consular section.

Photos shared online after the incident showed broken glass scattered across the snow, cracks in a glass entrance door, and dark marks on the building’s tiled floor.

Authorities Condemn the Attack

Government officials in Norway have strongly condemned the incident.

The country’s foreign minister, Espen Barth Eide, described the explosion as unacceptable and emphasized that protecting diplomatic facilities remains a key responsibility of the government.

“The security of diplomatic missions is very important to us,” he reportedly stated.

Meanwhile, officials from the United States Department of State confirmed that they are also reviewing the situation in cooperation with Norwegian authorities.

Public Asked to Assist Investigation

Police are now urging anyone who may have information about the suspect or the events surrounding the explosion to come forward.

Investigators specifically asked people who were in the area between midnight and 2:00 a.m. on Sunday to report any suspicious activity they may have observed.

Authorities believe that even small details could help identify the person involved and clarify the motive behind the attack.

Zilla Naija will continue to monitor developments and provide updates as the investigation progresses.
