Zilla Naija gathered that Pahlavi, the eldest son of former Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, made the announcement in a video statement shared on his account, declaring his readiness to lead a political transition should the current regime collapse.
According to the crown prince, many Iranians have urged him to take up the responsibility of guiding the country through a potential political transition. He said:

Pahlavi emphasized his commitment to ensuring a stable transition and allowing citizens to determine Iran’s future through democratic processes:
“My commitment is to ensure the transition is orderly, the country is stabilized, and Iranians determine their future through the ballot box.”
He also called on Arab nations and international partners to support a potential transitional government, highlighting the need for recognition and cooperation:
“Iranians have made their choice, at an enormous price. Now I ask our friends in the Arab world to join us. To prepare to recognize and engage our transitional government.”
The statement follows reports that Khamenei was killed on Saturday during joint strikes by United States and Israel in Iran. Under Iranian law, an Assembly of Experts is tasked with appointing a new supreme leader, and no successor has yet been announced.
In the interim, a three-member transitional council comprising the president, head of the judiciary, and a member of the Guardian Council is reportedly managing the country’s affairs.
Pahlavi has long been a prominent opposition figure against the Islamic Republic, calling for protests, advocating for regime change, and pushing for closer ties between Iran, Western countries, and Israel.
Zilla Naija will continue to monitor developments in Iran and provide updates on the political transition as more verified information emerges.
