The government of France has strongly condemned recent Israeli military strikes on Lebanon, describing them as “indiscriminate” and warning that the attacks could jeopardize the fragile ceasefire recently reached in the region.

The condemnation followed diplomatic discussions between French President Emmanuel Macron and Lebanese leaders including Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam.

According to the French presidency, Macron spoke directly with the Lebanese leadership after reports of Israeli strikes that allegedly resulted in a high number of civilian casualties.

In a statement released after the conversation, the French leader expressed strong solidarity with Lebanon and condemned the attacks.

“I have just spoken with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam. I expressed France’s full solidarity in the face of the indiscriminate strikes carried out by Israel in Lebanon today,” the statement said.

France said the strikes raised serious humanitarian concerns and could worsen tensions in the already volatile region.

Paris warned that the escalation could undermine the sustainability of the ceasefire that had recently been reached in the region.

The French government emphasized that Lebanon must be fully protected under the terms of the ceasefire agreement.

Officials stressed that maintaining calm remains critical to preventing a broader regional conflict.

Macron also reiterated France’s commitment to protecting Lebanon’s territorial integrity and supporting efforts by Lebanese authorities to maintain national sovereignty.

France further reaffirmed its backing for initiatives aimed at implementing the proposed disarmament plan targeting the militant group Hezbollah.

According to the French government, the plan is part of wider international efforts to stabilize Lebanon and reduce armed tensions within the country.

The condemnation comes amid rising tensions across the Middle East, with several countries expressing concern that continued military actions could trigger wider instability.

Diplomatic observers say international pressure may increase in the coming days as global powers attempt to prevent further escalation between Israel and its regional rivals.

France’s strong reaction reflects growing international concern about the humanitarian impact of military operations in Lebanon. Analysts warn that if diplomatic efforts fail, the region could face another prolonged period of instability that may affect global security and energy markets.
