According to the Iranian state-affiliated Fars News Agency, explosions and clashes were reported at multiple locations in the city during the unusual assault.
The agency said about ten security personnel were killed in the attack, including members of the Basij, a militia linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Publish NowHowever, other sources claimed the casualties could be significantly higher, alleging that dozens of Basij members and security operatives were killed within minutes during the attacks.
Regime Blames Foreign Plot
Iranian officials suggested that the incident could be part of a coordinated operation involving the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad and supporters of the former monarchy.
Authorities said the attack may have involved attempts to infiltrate the country and sabotage security operations.
Security Tightened Across Tehran
Following the incident, Basij forces reportedly set up checkpoints on major roads in Tehran in an effort to restrict civilian movement and prevent possible unrest.
Analysts say the attacks may have been intended to demonstrate the vulnerability of Iran’s internal security forces and potentially discourage security personnel from carrying out actions against civilians.
Exiled Prince Calls for Resistance
Meanwhile, Reza Pahlavi, the son of Iran’s former monarch, urged supporters to remain at home during the tense situation.
In a recorded message, he described the situation as a critical stage in what he called the struggle against the Iranian government and encouraged supporters to continue peaceful resistance.
Netanyahu Speaks to Iranian Public
Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, also addressed the Iranian public, saying that developments in the coming days could create conditions for change within the country.
Israeli Airstrikes on Iranian Targets
Earlier the same day, the Israel Defense Forces said dozens of fighter jets from the Israeli Air Force carried out multiple waves of strikes on Iranian government infrastructure in Tehran and other parts of Iran.
According to the military, the operation targeted facilities linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, internal security forces, and intelligence units.
The strikes are part of the escalating conflict between Iran and Israel, which has heightened tensions across the region and raised fears of a wider war.
