Open Free AccountIran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian has declared that the country will not surrender to pressure from Israel or the United States, as tensions in the Middle East continue to escalate.
Zilla Naija gathered that Pezeshkian made the statement during a televised national address on Saturday, where he spoke about the ongoing conflict and Iran’s position moving forward.
According to the Iranian leader, calls for Iran to accept what he described as “unconditional surrender” would not be considered by the country.

Publish NowHe stressed that Iran intends to continue resisting external pressure despite the recent military strikes that have intensified the crisis in the region.
Reports monitored by Zilla Naija indicate that the latest escalation followed coordinated strikes on Iran by Israel and the United States on February 28. The development triggered a wider regional confrontation and heightened tensions across the Middle East.
Following the attacks, Iran reportedly responded with missile and drone operations targeting Israeli and U.S. interests in the region, particularly around the Gulf area.
Pezeshkian is currently serving as part of an interim leadership council responsible for managing the country’s affairs after the death of Ali Khamenei. The council is expected to oversee governance while Iran’s constitutional process for appointing a new supreme leader continues.
During his address, Pezeshkian also issued an apology to neighbouring countries that may have been affected by the military exchanges.
He explained that the attacks were not intended to target those nations and assured that efforts are being made to avoid further escalation involving neighbouring territories.
The Iranian president further revealed that the interim leadership council had reached an agreement to limit additional strikes unless Iran is attacked from nearby countries.
Zilla Naija will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as developments unfold.
