President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the deaths of some suspected illegal miners who were reportedly detained by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Minna, Niger State.
The President said human life has no price and stressed that no Nigerian should die in government custody as a result of negligence, abuse or inadequate care.
Tinubu directed the Ministry of Interior and the leadership of the NSCDC to fully cooperate with the investigation to determine how the individuals were arrested, the conditions under which they were detained, the number of people held at the facility, the medical attention provided to them, and the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
