The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has upheld the registration of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) as a political party, overturning a Federal High Court judgment that had set aside the party’s registration.
In a 2–1 majority decision, the appellate court ruled that the Federal High Court in Lokoja was wrong to revisit its earlier final judgment directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register the NDC.

The dispute followed a December 10, 2025 judgment ordering INEC to register the party. However, on June 26, 2026, Justice Isah Dashen of the Federal High Court in Lokoja set aside that decision following an application by the Peace Movement Party, which raised concerns over the NDC’s logo and its non-inclusion in the original case.
