Former Senate President Bukola Saraki has said a recent Court of Appeal ruling declaring Ibrahim Magu’s prolonged tenure as acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) unlawful has vindicated the position taken by the 8th Senate nearly a decade ago.
Saraki, who presided over the Senate between 2015 and 2019, recalled that the Senate rejected Magu’s nomination as substantive EFCC chairman twice in 2016 and 2017.

According to him, despite the Senate’s decisions, Magu continued to serve as acting chairman until July 2020 without confirmation by the upper chamber.
