Suspected gunmen have attacked supporters of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) during the campaign flag-off of its Enugu State governorship candidate, Sir Christian Chinyeaka Ohaa, leaving several people injured and raising fears that one person may have died.
One person has been identified as Nwolle Christopher, who was reportedly shot during the violence. However, conflicting accounts emerged over his condition, with some sources suggesting he had died while others maintained that he was still alive as of Sunday.
The attacks reportedly occurred on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at two locations in Enugu: Akanu Ibiam International Airport and the campaign office of Ohaa in the Government Reserved Area (GRA) of the state capital.
