Murtala Tukur, son of the late former Governor of the defunct Gongola State and former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Dr. Bamanga Muhammad Tukur, has described his late father as a disciplined, humble and cultured man whose greatest desire was to see his children succeed and remain united.
Murtala, who spoke with journalists during his father’s burial, said the death came as a shock to the family, but added that the life Bamanga Tukur lived was worthy of celebration.

“It came as a shock to everybody. We’re all not happy that it happened, but Baba has lived a good life,” he said.
