Atiku Mocks Tinubu’s 30-Day Fuel Discount as ‘Election-Season Bandage’

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has criticised the Federal Government’s proposed 30-day petrol discount at Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited stations, describing the intervention as a temporary response to a deepening cost-of-living crisis.

Atiku, through Phrank Shaibu, Director of Strategic Communication of the ADC Presidential Campaign Council, said the measure announced by the Federal Government could not provide lasting relief to Nigerians facing high fuel, transportation and food costs.

The Federal Government had announced the 30-day discount as part of a 10-point intervention package aimed at cushioning the effect of rising petrol prices, while insisting that the measure was not a return to blanket fuel subsidy.
