The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Abuja, Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi, has unveiled what the university describes as the first Public Access Defibrillator installed in a public university in Nigeria, in a move to strengthen emergency response to sudden cardiac arrest.
The unveiling took place as the university joined the rest of the world to commemorate the 2026 World Restart a Heart Day on Friday, October 16, with a life-saving training programme aimed at equipping members of the university community with basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and other essential skills for responding to cardiac emergencies.
