Trump rebuffs Iran’s plan to reopen Strait of Hormuz

US President Donald Trump has rejected a proposal from Iran for a seven-day truce that Tehran said could lead to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to normal shipping.

The strategic waterway, through which a significant share of global oil supplies passes, has become a major flashpoint in the confrontation between Washington and Tehran.

“I reject their proposal,” Trump told reporters outside the White House on Friday.
