The Presidency had announced that Tinubu delegated Vice President Kashim Shettima to represent him and lead Nigeria’s delegation to the 81st Session of the UNGA in New York.
The decision has drawn criticism, notably from former Vice President and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, who demanded an explanation for Tinubu’s continued absence from the annual gathering.
Speaking on Channels Television on Sunday night, Osodi said Tinubu’s absence would not diminish Nigeria’s international standing, arguing that the President was focused on domestic priorities while also engaging through other international platforms.
