Zilla Naija gathered that the incident occurred along the Ubima–Omuanwa road while the former Rivers State governor was travelling to his ward in Ubima to formally register as a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Publish NowAccording to reports, suspected gunmen allegedly attempted to ambush Amaechi’s convoy during the journey. However, security operatives attached to the former minister were said to have repelled the attackers, preventing further escalation.
Earlier in the day, some unidentified individuals were also reported to have set parts of the ADC office in Ubima on fire. In a related development, Amaechi’s family house in the area was reportedly attacked by unknown persons.
Despite the incident, the former minister proceeded with his political activity and successfully enrolled on the party’s digital register.
Speaking afterward, Amaechi commended security agencies for their swift response in preventing what could have been a more serious situation.
He also called on security authorities to investigate the incident, identify those responsible, and ensure that anyone involved is brought to justice.
