The Southern Kaduna Lawyers Forum (SKLF) has called on the Kaduna State Government to cancel the Kaduna State Traditional Institution Law No. 21 of 2021, citing concerns over its impact on traditional institutions, customs and peace in Southern Kaduna communities.
The Forum made the call in a formal letter submitted to the Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, at the Government House in Kaduna.
The letter, signed by the Chairman and Secretary of SKLF, argued that while the government has the authority to reform traditional institutions, the current law had generated tension and undermined historical institutions and indigenous customs in parts of the state.
