The Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Hajiya Hulayat Motunrayo Omidiran, has made history as the first National Matron of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) in the 61-year history of the association.

Omidiran was invested into the historic position during the 2026 SWAN Triennial Delegates Congress in Kaduna, tagged “KD 2026,” following her nomination by the association’s National Executive Committee (NEC).

The appointment, according to SWAN, was in recognition of Omidiran’s outstanding contributions to sports development, youth empowerment, women’s football and public service, as well as her commitment to national growth and development.
