NOSCEF Urges Tinubu to Publish US Medical Aid Deal, Clarify NAFDAC’s Powers

The Northern States Christian Elders Forum raises concerns over reported $2.1bn Nigerian counterpart funding, demands transparency on medicine safety and regulatory independence.

The Northern States Christian Elders Forum (NOSCEF) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to publicly clarify the terms of Nigeria’s reported medical aid agreement with the United States, particularly the financial commitments involved and the extent of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control’s (NAFDAC) regulatory authority.

The forum expressed concern over reports that the United States would provide vaccines and medicines valued at approximately $3 billion to support Nigeria’s fight against malaria and other life-threatening diseases, while Nigeria would contribute about $2.1 billion in counterpart funding.
