Nine persons have died, while two others sustained injuries after a truck conveying ceramic tiles crashed into a ditch at Piri village along the Abuja-Lokoja highway.
The accident, which occurred at about 5:37 a.m. on Tuesday, involved a Howo truck with registration number FKY 922 XB. The vehicle was reportedly travelling from Ajaokuta in Kogi State to Kano when the driver allegedly lost control.
According to a witness, Samson Yakubu, the truck was loaded with ceramic tiles, with 11 persons reportedly travelling on top of the cargo when the incident occurred.
