NAFDAC Disowns Viral List of Alleged Fake Products, Warns Nigerians Against Misinformation

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has disowned a viral list circulating on social media that identifies products allegedly sold in Nigeria as fake, adulterated or substandard, warning the public against spreading unverified information.

In a press release dated October 9, 2026, the agency said the list did not originate from NAFDAC and should not be treated as an official safety alert, product recall notice or regulatory communication.

NAFDAC explained that it does not declare products fake, adulterated or unsafe without following established regulatory procedures, including investigations, product sampling and, where necessary, scientific and laboratory testing.
