Lawal Yakubu Omali, popularly known as L.Y. Omali, has declared his intention to contest the 2027 Kogi State governorship election, stating his desire to contribute to addressing challenges affecting the people of the state.
Omali, who hails from Efacha Inye, Enjema Ward 3, Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State, was born on 7th July 1985 into the family of the late Mr. Yakubu Omali Oketa.
According to information about his background, L.Y. Omali developed an interest in politics from an early age through his exposure to community leadership and political activities within Ankpa Local Government Area.

His political awareness, according to his profile, began during the period when his uncle, E.S. Omali, served as Chairman of Ankpa Local Government Area between 1994 and 1995. He also gained further political experience and inspiration through his elder brother, Barr. R.Y. Omali, from 1996.
Speaking to Zilla Naija about his decision to join the 2027 governorship race, Omali said his motivation was driven by concerns about the welfare of the people.
“My people are hungry and suffering, and I want to be part of the solution to the challenges facing them.”
With his declaration of interest, L.Y. Omali joins the growing number of individuals expressing interest in participating in the 2027 Kogi State governorship election.
