The Bursar of the Federal University of Health Sciences Otukpo (FUHSO), Dr Paul Hassan Akpa, has been honoured with a Special Award of Excellence by KGA Media Services, publishers of KGA NewsPoint Magazine.
The award was presented during a ceremony held in Abuja, where media professionals, traditional rulers, academics, and other stakeholders gathered to celebrate the achievements of the award recipient.
Presenting the award, Editorial Consultant of KGA NewsPoint Magazine, Archibong Esuene, who represented Special Project Editor Ingji Gukas, described Dr Akpa as a distinguished administrator and accountant whose career reflects integrity, accountability, and service to humanity.
According to the organisers, the award was created to recognise individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to societal development.
Esuene noted that Dr Akpa has consistently distinguished himself through transparent financial management and sound leadership in both public and private institutions.

Before his current role at FUHSO, Dr Akpa previously served as Bursar of Federal University Wukari, where he completed a successful five-year tenure.
The organisers also highlighted his influence beyond academia, describing him as a respected son of Igala land and holder of the traditional title Omachi Ata’Igala-Ika (Waali).
The citation further praised Dr Akpa for supporting youth and women empowerment programmes, educational development, and humanitarian activities regardless of tribe, religion, or gender.
It also highlighted his academic and professional achievements, noting that he is a Fellow of several professional bodies, including:
- Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN)
- Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN)
- Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN)
- African Institute of Public Administration
In goodwill messages, President of the Coalition of Northern Youths Forum of Nigeria, Iliya Danladi, described Dr Akpa as a humble and compassionate leader committed to humanity.
Danladi also praised his investment in education through Living Winners Model Schools, noting that the initiative has helped nurture future leaders.
Similarly, Adaji Habib of the Igala Heritage Foundation commended Dr Akpa’s leadership at FUHSO, describing him as transparent, visionary, and administratively excellent.

Speaking after receiving the award, Dr Akpa described the recognition as a reflection of God’s grace and the result of a life dedicated to diligence, integrity, and selfless service.
His wife, Ojomachewn Akpa, appreciated the organisers and guests for honouring her husband, whom she described as a humanitarian and a role model.
The event attracted dignitaries from different sectors, including representatives of the Ameagba Clan of Ika Kingdom, education administrators, and associates who prayed for greater impact and continued service to humanity.
