Former Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Prince Matthew Kolawole, may be considering a move from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as political permutations ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to gather momentum in Kogi State.
Political observers say recent developments within the APC, including growing disagreements over party structures, candidate selection processes, and emerging power blocs, have fueled speculation that some prominent politicians may be weighing alternative political platforms.

The speculation comes despite Kolawole’s recent public endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, where he expressed confidence in the APC’s chances in the 2027 elections and pledged support for the party’s success.
Kolawole, who was denied ticket of APC ticket to represent Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives in 2027, by the party has remained one of the notable APC figures in Kogi West.
