Community Leader Demands Action as Two Female Miners killed in Plateau

A community leader in Plateau State has called on the state government and security agencies to take urgent action to halt the cycle of attacks and reprisals in parts of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.

The appeal followed the reported killing of a Fulani boy and a subsequent attack on women at a mining site in Rakum community, where two female miners were reportedly killed and another injured.

According to security sources, the latest incident occurred on Monday when three female civilian miners were attacked at the mining site. Two of the victims were reportedly shot dead at the scene, while the third sustained gunshot wounds and was evacuated to the General Hospital, Barkin Ladi, for treatment.
