The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Adamawa State chapter, has called on the state government to adopt community-based posting for newly recruited teachers to address staff shortages in rural schools.
The union made the call on Monday in Yola as Nigeria joined the rest of the world to mark the 2026 World Teachers’ Day.
The state NUT Chairman, Faisal Abubakar Muhammed, said posting teachers to schools within or close to their communities would improve attendance, commitment and effective teaching, particularly in rural and hard-to-reach areas.
