Oyo State Governor and presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Seyi Makinde, has called for mining to be removed from Nigeria’s Exclusive Legislative List, arguing that state governments should have greater responsibility for mineral resources within their territories.
Makinde also said that elected chief executives should formally transfer authority to their deputies when proceeding on extended vacations, citing Section 145 of the 1999 Constitution.

The APM candidate made the remarks on Tuesday at the party’s North-West town hall meeting in Katsina, where he outlined key elements of his proposed “Reset Agenda” for the country.
