The incident occurred on Friday as supporters of the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket and members of the wider Obidient and Kwankwasiya movements were reportedly campaigning in the city ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Esther Umoh, identified as a photographer associated with Obi, raised the alarm in a post on X, alleging that the attackers were politically sponsored and had targeted members of the campaign team.

According to Umoh, members of the entourage of the Delta State governorship candidate, alongside other supporters of the two political movements, came under attack during the campaign activities.
