In a condolence message issued on Saturday, September 12, 2026, Ribadu said Tukur died in Abuja at the age of 90 after a life of “monumental service to Adamawa, the North-East, and Nigeria at large.”
Ribadu described the late Tukur as a bridge-builder and father figure whose counsel guided generations of leaders.
“Alhaji Bamanga Tukur was not just a politician; he was an institution. As the 3rd civilian Governor of the old Gongola State, as a Federal Minister, as a global businessman and President of the Africa Business Roundtable, and as National Chairman of the PDP, he exemplified courage, foresight, integrity and an unwavering belief in a united and prosperous Nigeria,” he said.
