“Pay Us Or Stay Closed” – Girei Beer Sellers Allege Adamawa DPO Is Extorting ₦20,000 – ₦100,000

Beer parlour operators in Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa State have petitioned the Commissioner of Police, CP Kabir Hassan, to investigate alleged extortion and intimidation by the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, SP Aliyu Adamu.

The operators staged a peaceful protest in Sengere on Thursday, alleging that police from Girei Division were shutting down their businesses and demanding huge sums of money for their release.

Some of the operators told TGNews that the DPO closed their shops without stating any offence and later demanded between *₦40,000 and ₦100,000* to reopen them.
