At least 16 villagers are feared dead and several others missing after suspected bandits stormed Kiliya village near Bagagadi in Dutsinma Local Government Area, Katsina State, on Friday afternoon shortly after Juma’at prayers, Zilla Naija reports.
According to early reports, the gunmen—believed to be armed bandits who frequently terrorise communities across north‑west Nigeria—arrived in the community riding motorcycles before opening fire on residents.
A source from the village told journalists that many villagers were relaxing at home and celebrating in the spirit of the Sallah holiday when the attackers struck, leaving survivors in a state of panic and fear.

The source added that many people were declared missing after the assault, with families frantically searching for loved ones and others taking refuge away from the scene.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the Katsina State Police Command nor other security agencies had released an official statement on the attack, and details about possible arrests or casualties among the attackers were not immediately available.
