Residents of Agamo in Ondo State have been left in shock after unknown gunmen brutally murdered a traditional ruler inside his palace in a violent attack that has sparked outrage across the state.

Zilla Naija gathered that the monarch, Oba Kehinde Jacob Falodun, was killed on February 18 when armed men stormed his palace at about 7:10 p.m.

Eyewitness accounts revealed that about ten gunmen invaded the palace in what residents described as a coordinated operation. The attackers reportedly attempted to abduct the monarch but resorted to violence when the plan failed.

According to reports, the attackers repeatedly struck the monarch during the confrontation, leading to his death.

Police Promise Justice

Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Adebowale Lawal, assured the public that security operatives would track down those responsible.

The police chief vowed that authorities would leave no stone unturned in bringing the perpetrators to justice.

Following the incident, Lucky Aiyedatiwa directed security agencies to intensify operations against criminals operating in the state.

The governor, through the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Idowu Ajanaku, expressed deep concern over the rising cases of kidnapping and violence.

Authorities say security agencies have been ordered to strengthen surveillance and take decisive action against those involved in criminal activities.

Family Recounts Traumatic Experience

The late monarch’s family said they are still struggling to come to terms with the tragic loss.

His wife, Veronica Falodun, said the attack felt like a nightmare as the gunmen invaded the palace shortly after the monarch returned home and sat outside to rest.

His daughter, Folayemi Falodun, also described how the attackers arrived and opened fire, forcing residents to run for safety.

Community in Mourning

The attack has left the Agamo community devastated, as residents continue to mourn the loss of their traditional ruler.
