IED Threat Delays Rescue of Abducted NYSC Members in Imo-Police

Security agencies have located the suspected hideout of kidnappers holding prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in Imo State, but an immediate rescue operation has been delayed over fears that the camp has been rigged with improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

The prospective corps members were abducted on Thursday, October 1, when gunmen attacked two buses conveying graduates from Ibadan, Oyo State, to NYSC orientation camps in Abia and Akwa Ibom states.

The attack occurred along the Owerri-Onitsha Road around Umunoha in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State.
