The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) has issued the Federal Government a 14-day ultimatum to settle outstanding arrears owed its members under the 2026 agreement reached with the union or face indefinite strike action.
SSANU President, Mohammed Ibrahim, announced the ultimatum on Tuesday during a press briefing in Abuja, where he presented resolutions from the union’s National Executive Council meeting held over the weekend at the Federal University, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Ibrahim said the agreement between the Federal Government and SSANU was designed to address several longstanding issues affecting senior university staff, but expressed concern over what he described as inconsistent implementation across universities.
