The Federal High Court in Abuja has issued bench warrants for the arrest of four defendants standing trial for allegedly defrauding Opay Digital Services Limited of N150.538 million.

Justice Salim Ibrahim made the order on Friday following an oral application by prosecution counsel, John Ijagbemi, pursuant to Section 394 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA), 2015.

The judge directed the Inspector-General of Police to arrest and produce the defendants—Isah Ladan, Nasiru Umar, Umar Mohammed and Abubakar Ibrahim—in court on the next adjourned date.

Justice Ibrahim also directed the Chief Registrar of the court to write to the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and other relevant legal bodies over the conduct of the defendants’ counsel, U.M. Umar.
