Speaking on Wednesday in Abuja at the double unveiling of the Institute of Competition and Antitrust Practitioners (ICAP) and the Antitrust and Trade Laws Practitioners Association (ATLAPA), Mbamba said the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act (FCCPA) 2018 gave Nigeria the law and created the FCCPC to enforce it, but without competent custodians, the law would fail.
“A law without competent custodians is akin to an aeroplane without adequate crewmen,” the Chairman told senior lawyers, regulators, business leaders and diplomats gathered at the event.

“Today, we are not just unveiling an Institute and an Association, we are turning on the tap of fairness in our markets,” Mbamba declared, adding that ICAP and ATLAPA would train the lawyers, economists and compliance officers who will advise government and businesses on fair competition.
