The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has placed Nigeria on high alert following the continued spread of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
The development was contained in a public health advisory issued by the NCDC and signed by its Director-General, Dr Jide Idris, as Nigeria strengthens surveillance, preparedness and response measures against the possibility of the virus being imported into the country.

According to the NCDC, the heightened alert followed a dynamic risk assessment conducted in collaboration with public health experts and the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.
