The Obidient Movement Worldwide has issued a serious warning to members and aspirants of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the party’s nationwide primaries for the 2027 general election, Zilla Naija reports.
In a strongly worded statement released as the NDC conducts its primaries, the national coordinator of the Obidient Movement urged party faithful to remain focused, disciplined and united behind their common goals — especially the drive to ensure that Peter Obi’s name appears on the ballot for the 2027 presidential election.
Unity Over Personal Ambition
The Movement’s leadership, speaking through its coordinator Yunusa Tanko, emphasised that the alliance within the NDC is deliberate and strategic, and should not be weakened by individual ambitions or backdoor politics.
“Our collective objective is to ensure that the candidature of His Excellency Mr. Peter Obi is on the ballot for the 2027 general elections,” the statement said.
Tanko also reminded participants that only a few aspirants can emerge victorious from the primaries, saying that competition naturally produces both winners and losers.
Play Fair, Resolve Disputes Internally
The Obidient Movement urged NDC members and contestants to accept the results in good faith and to use the party’s internal mechanisms to address any grievances instead of going to court.
“We must avoid resorting to court litigation, as this is inimical to the progress of our collective resolve,” Tanko said.
Watchful Eyes of Political Opponents
The statement also warned that political opponents are closely watching the NDC’s internal processes and could take advantage of any divisions or crises that arise.
Focus on 2027 Victory
Closing his appeal, the coordinator urged NDC members to close ranks after the primaries, focus on unity, and work toward defeating the ruling party in the upcoming 2027 general election.
