The controversy centres on Oluyemi Titilayo Adeyemi-Showunmi, wife of Segun Showunmi, a political commentator and member of the Tinubu/Shettima 2027 Presidential Campaign Council, who was moved from Lagos, where she served in the administration department, to head INEC’s Electoral Operations Department.
According to reports, Isah Magaji Gummi, who previously headed the department, was redeployed to the Voter Registry Department, paving the way for Adeyemi-Showunmi to assume the position.
The Electoral Operations Department plays a critical role in election planning and implementation, including coordinating polling arrangements, deploying election materials and managing personnel involved in electoral activities.
