Wike made the call on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, in Abuja, during the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 elections, which was attended by governors, party chieftains and stakeholders from across party lines.
While reaffirming his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Wike said political affiliation should not becloud objective judgment about governance. According to him, supporting good policies that benefit Nigerians should transcend party sentiments.

He faulted the narrative by some opposition figures that the Tinubu administration lacks direction, stressing that the President has shown uncommon courage to confront long-standing national challenges that previous administrations acknowledged but failed to tackle head-on.
