The Network Against Child Trafficking, Abuse and Labour (NACTAL) Nigeria has called for a review of the 2026 Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report released by the United States Department of State, expressing concern over what it described as inadequate recognition of civil society organisations in Nigeria’s anti-trafficking efforts.
The organisation said the report should provide a more comprehensive assessment of Nigeria’s response to human trafficking by recognising the contributions of non-governmental organisations, community-based groups, international development partners and other stakeholders working to prevent exploitation and protect survivors.
In a statement, NACTAL National President-elect, Comrade Osita Osemene, acknowledged the importance of the TIP Report as an international assessment of countries’ efforts to combat human trafficking but stressed that the evaluation should reflect the contributions of all relevant stakeholders.
