Kaduna Only State Integrating Mental Health Into Primary, Secondary Healthcare — Gov Uba Sani

Governor Sani made this known on Friday at the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital (FNPH), Barnawa, Kaduna, during the 2026 World Mental Health Day celebration themed “Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change.”

Represented by the Commissioner of Health, Hajiya Umma K. Ahmad, the Governor revealed that the first cohort of 100 doctors, nurses and pharmacists from 10 General Hospitals in the state has been certified under the World Health Organization’s Mental Health Gap Action Programme (mhGAP).

He said mental health screening is now part of routine maternal and child health services in Kaduna State.
